Many social evils plague the villages of northern India, including human trafficking, child marriage, child labor, illiteracy, gambling, intoxication, discrimination and domestic violence.
TellAsia’s anti-trafficking and anti-slavery team is comprised of seven professional dramatists who go from village to village in a circuit doing a minimum of four village outreaches a day, for 20 days at a stretch. Thus we reach 12,000 people in 80 villages each month.
The campaigns motivate the rural community to protect themselves by being better informed and educated about various social problems. In all Asia, north India is one of the primary sources of women and children trafficked into sexual slavery. An estimated 200,000 people are trafficked every year.
TellAsia’s anti-trafficking team is laying a foundation of communities which are vigilant, aware, and equipped to counter attempts of trafficking young women and girls in villages. In this way we aim to curtail and eventually cut off trafficking and abuse at its roots.
Our awareness program, coupled with ongoing church planting and education of underprivileged children, is effectively promoting God’s Kingdom values and Biblical principles resulting in whole villages being transformed.
