Courageous Faith of highcast couple !

God is our Father. We are His children. He loves us like no earthly Father can love us. God is love. He wants all His children to know His love is true and never-ending. God longed to be the One True God in Mr. Vishal Dubey’s life. In Matthew 23:9 we are told, “And call no man your father upon the earth, for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”

Vishal’s family are from a high caste Brahmin family. His father is a temple priest. The Father also operates a small business selling statues of Hindu gods and goddess. The Holy Bible says in 1 John 5:21, “Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” People buy idols of gods and goddesses believing these false idols will change their luck for the better. Vishal sat in the shop surrounded by thousands of idols. He wondered, “If these gods and goddess offer so much luck to others, then why are we suffering so much in our family?” “What is luck anyway; is there such a thing as luck?” he spoke out-loud. While riding in an auto rickshaw to his Fathers shop Vishal found a small piece of paper lying on the floor. It was crumpled up, but he opened it. As he began to read his eyes opened wide; he was seeing the word of Truth for the first time! This was not just a normal piece of paper, it was a portion of the Gospel of John from the Holy Bible. This was not luck that Vishal found the small piece of paper and that he took time to pick it up; this was the beginning of a blessing from God. Vishal was eager to know more of this truth. He searched until he found a New Testament of his own.

Every day he read God’s Word while sitting in his father’s shop encircled by false gods and goddesses. He read chapter after chapter of New Testament. God’s words filled the emptiness in Vishal life. The Holy Spirit began to work in Vishal’s life. He started to feel very uncomfortable sitting in the midst of thousands of idols made by man and sold for money. He said, “I am convinced that God cannot be sold. God cannot be purchased. God cannot be made by human hands.” Immediately Vishal left his father’s shop to find a church; he needed to know more about Jesus Christ.

When his father learned about Vishal’s faith in Christ, the Son of God, he continuously scolded him and threatened to kick him out of his home! Although the pressure and persecution was intense Vishal chose to trust in Christ. He read in John 14, “Do not let your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in me.” Vishal knew without any doubt that God was his loving Father. As it states in Isaiah 64:8, “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
His father was very upset; he let his anger control him. He tried everything he could think of to convince Vishal that Jesus is not a True God according to his beliefs. His Father said, “Christianity is a foreign religion!” His efforts were like chasing the wind; he could not contain Vishal’s spirit. Vishal’s eyes were opened his heart soared with the love of Jesus. Vishal knew the truth and the truth set him free.

Vishal was kicked out of his house. In the evening he worked in tea shops earning a little money for food. He slept on the footpaths at night cold and alone. He couldn’t wait for daylight when he would find fellowship with believers. Vishal’s joy in the Lord overflowed to others. Fellow believers witnessed his strong faith in Christ. Local church members recommended Vishal attend a two year Bible training course. Upon his graduation from Bible School Vishal’s family of believers welcomed him back and rejoiced. He was full of the knowledge, wisdom, and love of Jesus! A leading church member said, “Vishal is a living testimony of faith and suffering for Jesus Christ.”

Vishal met a wonderful young Christian girl; they fell in love and were married. Vishal wanted to re-connect with his family members. He was eager for them to meet his new bride. Vishal introduced his loving wife, Shakhi (which in Hindi means Testimony), to his father. His Father’s anger was ten times more than it was before! He yelled, “Not only did you become a follower of Christ you also married a low cast girl! No way is this acceptable in a high cast Brahmin family!” He raged on, “This is defiling the entire family, don’t dare to enter my home ever again!” The young couple were denied privileges of the other family members. However, Vishal and Shakhi were privileged to be members of God’s family. As they walked away they remembered Ephesians 5, “Do as God does. After all, you are His dear children.”

Vishal and Shakhi lived wherever they could find a place for the night. Believer’s often welcomed them into their homes. Sometimes they had to spend the night on the streets streets if no believers were found. “But how long, how long, Father?” they asked. The young married couple was struggling. It was too much for them. They continued on as they remembered 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

But finally, Vishal called his Father, “Please give us shelter,” he pleaded.

Vishal’s Father said, “I will help you. You can live in my home on two conditions.” Vishal was hopeful . . . until he heard his Father say, “If you are willing to leave your faith and divorce your wife, Shakchi, then you can come home.” Because none of these things were acceptable to Vishal, in the middle of the night they were kicked out again. His father screamed at them, “There is no room for either of you, not in this house, not in our hearts.”
They left, spending the whole night in the street, hungry, thirsty, tired. That night they remembered God’s Word from 2 Corinthians 6:18, “I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

They called a Christian friend asking for help. The friend recommended they meet with one of our TellAsia leaders. They were brought to the Life Center where they received food, shelter, rest and most of all loving fellowship. God saw their need. The Holy Bible tells us, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him,” (Matthew 6:8). They felt at home with Gods family.

Vishal and Shakhi are extremely committed to Christ; they willingly suffer no matter what comes their way. They know that God is their Father, He loves them, He is always there for them, forever. Leaders at the TellAsia Life Center say, “It is privilege for us to know them, we enjoy helping them however we can.” Life Church sees this young couple as a light in the darkness. The Church commissioned them to go out into very needy areas to plant churches. They are excited and well prepared to go. “Please pray for this couple, they are a living testimony of Chris,” said a friend. Leaders are touched when they hear their testimony. Many times through all the trials and persecution they would say, “I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love,” (Romans 8:31). “This young couple inspires all of us to accept the love of our One True Father,” said a friend. “I know they will be an inspiration wherever God leads them,” said another believer.

If you can find it in your heart to help this young Brother and Sister please do so joyfully. Please keep them in your prayers as they set out as sheep among wolves. Will you please help them? We seek a sponsor to support this native missionary family as they bring the Gospel to their suburban community. Their living expenses are about $200 per month. Galatians 6:10: “So then, as we have opportunity let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
