The best way to lift people out of poverty is not to give them
something, but to enable them to earn for themselves. You can change a
life forever by helping people stand on their
own feet.

Goats for
Needy Families - $70
Goats are sturdy animals that are easy to care for. They are useful
for both milk and meat. Every middle-class family in the village has
their herd of goats, but many are too poor to afford even one goat. By
providing a goat for a needy family, you help them start their herd
and rise up out of poverty. |

 |
Micro-Business
- $250
For lack of as little as $250 startup capital, families who otherwise
could earn a good living subsist in poverty and misery, exploited by
those wealthier than they. It is the women to whom we provide this
startup capital, and together with their husband and family they start and
operate small businesses such as a general store, vegetable business
or clothing business. |
|
 |
Sewing
Schools - $75
When a
young lady learns to sew, she can always earn an income in whatever
circumstance she is in. Tailoring is much in demand. She can earn
extra money to supplement her husband's income or to send her children
to school. It costs $75 to buy a sewing machine for setting up a
sewing school. |

 |
Vocational Skills
Training - $60
Millions
of able-bodied young men grow up in the village with no opportunity to
learn a skill. They are doomed to a life of poverty. By helping them
learn a skill such as carpentry, electrical wiring or computer
hardware, you give them a bright future as a middle-class citizen. It
costs $60/month to send a young man to a 12-month vocational skills
program. |

A Child's
Education - $30
Many children in the village are too poor to afford to go to school.
Their parents work hard in the field or in a factory all day just to
survive. There isn't any money left to send their children to
school. $30/month enables another child who would have grown up
illiterate to go to school and have a bright future. |
