PEMA CHANDOL
Native Place: Ladakh, Tibet border
Birth Date: February 24, 2001
Age: 10
Testimony: Pema was born in a Buddhist family in the village of Zanskar deep in the Himalaya Mountains. Pema is the youngest of her four brothers and sister. Her mother died at a very early age and also her father was a heavy drinker. Her father remarried with a lady, and the step-mother does not like the children. Often she mistreated and abused them. Sometimes they had to sleep without food and water. Zanskar is known for poverty, due to steep hills and heavy snow therefore no crops can be grown.
Life in Zanskar is really very difficult, and it was especially for Pema due to her family’s problems. When she saw other children of the village going to school or their parents playing with them and eating food together, she would cry, “Why don’t my parents love us and send us to school?”
There was a lady from Zanskar who worked for a Christian hospital 130 miles away. Every year she would take a medical team to visit the village to provide some medical care and to look for needy children to rescue. When she saw the condition of Pema's family she took her brothers and sisters and sent them to a children’s home. But Pema was still in her village with her step mother subsisting under horrible circumstances. The following year when she went again she found that Pema's condition was worse than before. She did not have warm clothing, and wasn’t being sent to school, and was totally uncared-for. So she decided to take Pema with her and the step-mother was glad to let her go.
That lady brought Pema to the town where she was working and contacted a few children’s homes to find a place for her, but all the homes were full and there was no space for Pema. One day she was sharing this situation in a prayer meeting and a friend of Ricky Srivastava happened to be there. He told her about Blue Haven Children’s Home. This is how God opened an amazing way for Pema to come to us. Pema is now one of the happiest children at our Home, and she is doing well in school. One day Ricky asked her, “Pema, do you want to visit your family during the summer holiday?” Pema replied, “I don't have any other family but you. You are my Mom and these other children are my brothers and sisters and this is my home.” Pema says that when she grows up, she wants to become a school teacher so she can teach good things to many children.

NEHA TAMTA
Native Place: Uttar Anchal, Himalayas, India
Birth Date: August 10, 1998
Age: 13
Testimony: I was born and brought up in a Hindu family and have one brother and one sister. Our parents were really poor therefore they could not send us to a good school. Because of our poverty they could not afford to give us nutritious food or clothing. My father worked hard in the field but earned just enough for us to barely survive.
Also my eyes didn’t look straight ahead. I had a birth defect that caused me to look askance. The doctor said I would go blind if I didn’t get an operation. Due to poverty my parents were not able to do anything for my eyes.
In 2004, by the grace of God, my brother Inder and I got to come to Blue Haven Children’s Home from that remote area. After coming here God blessed me abundantly and it was beyond my expectation. I learned many things like English, computers and how to respect others. My favorite subject in school is science and want to learn more about living things and things in nature that are not created by man but by the powerful God. One year I got the top score of the entire school.
Also through a donor TellAsia provided the operation for my eyes. Now I can see straight and properly.
When I grow up I want to help poor families. For that I have to study hard. If I study I will get a good job and then I can help my family and other poor people. I also want to preach the Gospel in every city and every village in the mountain area where I am from. In the world I know my name can be famous, but I want to become famous in God’s Kingdom for His glory.

In 2007 the leaders of Blue Haven Children’s Home realized my situation and I got to come here. But no one knew that I had contracted Tuberculosis. Blue Haven Children’s Home showed me so much love and care. They raised the funds for all my TB treatments and took me to the doctor daily for injections. I had to miss a year of school but now I am well. This year 2011 I will be starting school again and I am so happy. All my needs have been met and my dreams are being fulfilled. Native Place: Nepal
Birth Date: July 16, 1995
Age: 15
Testimony: Before coming to Blue Haven Children’s Home I faced so many problems. I have two brothers. In Nepal when I was six years old I was studying in second grade. At that time my first brother was born and my mother became weak and sick. So I had to cook food and care my mother and small brother. I could not go school because of I was busy working in the house. Sometimes we had nothing to eat. Sometimes people came to our house and made fun of us. They mocked us because we were Christians and because we didn’t have money. This was the situation for as long as I can remember there in Nepal. My dream was to leave Nepal and go to another place where my father and mother could get a good job. Later we came to India and my father worked as a cook but still my brothers and I didn’t get to go to a good school.
At that time Blue Haven Children’s Home was just starting and the leaders were looking for a family to live in the home and cook the food and take care of the children. My father and mother were selected and so I got to become a member of Blue Haven Children Home. All my needs are provide by Blue Haven right along with the other children. They enable me to attend an English medium school and now I can read and write in English.
When I was studying in 2nd grade I was at the top of my class and also I had the best scores in the whole school. Here also when I was in 8th grade I was the head girl of the school. Because of Blue Haven Children Home I have been able to come this far and I am very thankful.
