Pema is from a small village deep in the Himalaya mountains. Her father was a drunkard and her mother had died. She was the youngest of four children. Her other siblings were taken to a children's home but there was no more room in that home and Pema was left with her step-mother who mistreated her. One day a lady noticed Pema's wretched condition. She had heard that a new children's home had opened - ours - and arrangements were made for Pema to come. Now she has a loving family and a bright future. It only costs $60/month to rescue an orphaned or destitute child.
