GAURAV SRIVASTAVAAssistant to the Director, TellASIA Ministries
I was born in a Hindu family in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. My father and mother were idol worshippers. They worshipped several gods, such as Shiva and Durga. I also was very much involved in the Hindu religious activities. Every day morning and evening I was doing offerings to the gods. But one day I realized there is no peace and no love. I was watching the TV serial Mahabharat and also Ramayana. I saw how the gods were always quarreling with each other and each wanted to become ruler. So I thought, if my lord is fighting just like humans, then how can I have peace through him? I also saw how Ram was struggling to find Sita, and in his whole life he was not able to find peace. At the same time I saw all around me how people had no peace and my self also. So I was searching for who could give me peace, joy and also love.
So in 2003 I came to the city of Lucknow and visited a church, where Pastor Alok was preaching. He was giving an example from Mathew and showing that Jesus came as the Light to the world. Through this word, I realized that Jesus is the one who can give me peace and life and light. Then I went to another church and the Lord Jesus spoke to me and promised me, “When you call on Me, I will answer you.” That was when I confessed Jesus as Lord of my life. After that I continued in fellowship with the Lord, and He gave me peace and in 2005 I took Baptism. Now I am serving the Lord and growing in Him and I am so happy because God brought me from death to light. Jesus said” I am the way the truth and the light” and through Him God has saved me so I want be a light for others. My Passion is to bring Jesus to the unreached nations. In year 2006 we started our Micro Business program in which I was the director. By Gods Grace I was able to help sixteen village Ladies start their small businesses. In year 2007 I was given responsibility as Administrative Assistant to our International Director, Leanna. Along with that I am coordinating TellASIA's building projects. Through all these responsibilities I am learning so many things. MINISTRY EXPERIENCE
Jan 2004 to July 2006 – Assisted the Director of The Alliance Ministries. During this time I was helping him in accounting. I also helped in Blue Haven Children’s Home which is project of TellASIA/Alliance ministries. I helped in teaching the children English and Computers.
Aug 2006 to June 2007 – my first full time paid position as Head Coach for Singing River- TellASIA Micro Business program. I received fifteen days of intensive job training from Mr. Glen West Director of Singing River Ministry, Denver, Colorado, which funded our micro business program. During this training I learned team building, counseling for business, and management of a Micro Business Program. The Lord used me to help sixteen poor families to start their businesses. Before they started their business some of them could not even afford to send their children to school and could not afford three meals a day. But now through these small businesses their lives have been transformed, their children are going to school and having proper food.
January –June 2007 - I completed English language Discipleship Training School in YWAM Pune, their main base in India.
July 2007 till the present I am serving as the Assistant of Leanna, Director of TellASIA Ministries. During this time my responsibilities have included:
Managing the construction projects of ICM - TellASIA projects. Compiling data bases on Excel. Compiling newsletters on Corel Draw and Ms Word. Helping write foundation grants. Meeting with international sponsors to promote our ministry here in North India English to Hind translation for guest speakers coming from America and other countries. Email and phone communication with international friends and sponsors Grass root church planting work in remote villages throughout the month of January 2008. During this time God used me to Plant a house church In Unnao district. Now forty believers are regularly attainting this church.
Assisted in the Following Programs:
September 2007 - Taught in a leadership seminar in which 50 leaders participated. Oct 2007 – Attended a one-week church planting seminar in Nepal conducted by All Nations Ministries, Kansas City. Dec 2007- Coordinated team of eighteen visiting us from Metro Church of God, Dallas. They were with us for one week during that time we conducted programs in ten different locations. August 2008 - Business and ministry meetings in Delhi.
